Our Team

Delta Tree chapter directors are in charge of leading Delta Tree groups at specific locations, while chapter coordinators are incredible teachers committed to the mission of Delta Tree Initiative who partner with us to bring Delta Tree to their campuses. The curriculum development team works to produce lessons covering a range of STEM topics to be made available to our chapter directors.

This organization could not continue without the incredible work of our our team, which allows us to provide the very best in STEM education to our students. We are actively seeking new chapter coordinators to bring Delta Tree to more locations in Alabama, and would love for you to contact us if you're interested in joining our team.

Tana Early 

Curriculum Development

Tana is majoring in environmental science and minoring in economics at the University of Alabama. She has participated in research pertaining to fecal pollution in drinking water in Alabama's Black Belt, as well as nanoparticle membrane water filtration. She has 6 years of work experience in education, and currently works with the city of Tuscaloosa specializing in environmental education. She is a member of the Blackburn Institute and an International Trustee for the Circle K International club at UA. 

Morgan Harrison 

Curriculum Development

Morgan is an undergraduate student in secondary science education at Judson College in Marion, AL. She has worked with numerous classes in the Perry County school system and is an active volunteer in her community. She served as Vice President then President of her Sophomore class. 

Sarah Homoky

Chapter Director, Hale County

Sarah is an anthropology and Biology double major  and undergraduate researcher at the University of Alabama. She has conducted extensive field work in Peru, Belize, and the US.

Jyasmine Torres
Savanah Townley

Chapter Co-Director, Tuscaloosa

Jyasmine Torres is a fourth year at Judson College majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry and Music. She plans to further her education in animal behavior science at the Animal Behavior Institute, then seek employment as an Aquarist. 

Chapter Co-Director, Tuscaloosa

Savanah Townley is a senior at Judson College majoring in Biology and Chemistry in preparation for Physician's Assistant school. She volunteers locally in her community with a local urgent care and with the Art Center's children's program.  She served as Historian for Judson's Tri Beta club.

Riley Lovejoy

Founder, President

Chapter Director, Bessemer Academy

PhD Candidate at the University of Alabama studying community ecology and invasion biology, where she completed a master's degree in biological sciences. She has a passion for helping young women realize they can accomplish anything with hard work and commitment, and loves introducing students to new fields. 

Trina Ludvik

Chapter Coordinator, 

Bessemer Academy

Trina has been teaching for over 15 years, with the last 10 of those at Bessemer Academy. She is a lifelong lover of all things science fair and sneaking data analysis skills into everyday lessons. Her favorite place is in the lab with her students. 
 

Hayden Millican

Vice President

Hayden graduated from the University of West Alabama with a BS in Biology and a M.A.T. in Biological Sciences. Currently, she is enrolled in online classes through University of Tennessee at Martin working on her Initial Licensure in Secondary Education. This fall marks her sixth year of teaching. She taught Biology and Anatomy & Physiology at Bessemer Academy for four years. This August, she will be starting her second year teaching Biology at Munford High School in Munford, Tennessee. 

Former Team Members:

Lauren Becker: Chapter Director, Boys and Girls Club of Moundville. Since working with Delta Tree, Lauren has been part of the Disney College program. 

Ryan Tuckey: Chapter Assistant, Boys and Girls Club of Moundville. Ryan will begin an MD/PhD program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Fall 2020. 

Melissa Uehling: Chapter Director, Boys and Girls Club of Moundville. Melissa is currently an MD/PhD student at Emory University.
